Nurse Resume — clinical skills, registration and examples

Write a nurse resume that leads with registration, clinical competencies and measurable patient-care outcomes.

Nursing recruiters check registration first, then competencies, then whether your experience matches the ward or setting they are hiring for. Put registration where they cannot miss it.

Sections that matter

  • Header with registration number, band or grade and availability
  • Professional summary — setting, years, specialism
  • Clinical experience with ward, caseload and shift pattern
  • Clinical skills — medication administration, observations, wound care, escalations
  • Certifications — BLS, ALS, ILS, safeguarding, moving and handling

Example bullets

  • Managed a caseload of eight dependent patients on a busy medical ward with zero incidents over 14 months
  • Led orientation for four newly registered nurses, completing competency sign-off within six weeks
  • Introduced a bedside handover template adopted across two pods

Common mistakes

  • Burying registration details below the fold
  • Listing skills without the context in which you used them
  • Generic patient-care bullets that could belong to anyone
  • Missing agency or bank work, which recruiters read as availability
