How to write a fresher resume
A first resume with no formal experience: what to lead with, what to leave out, and how to make projects do the talking.
A fresher resume is not an experienced resume with the experience removed. It is a different document with a different centre of gravity: education, projects and potential.
Order that works
- Contact — professional email, phone, city, LinkedIn or GitHub
- Objective — two lines, specific to the role
- Education — degree, institution, year, marks if strong
- Skills — grouped, honest
- Projects — two or three with your specific contribution and the outcome
- Internships, training, certifications
- Achievements and extracurriculars
Writing project bullets
State the problem, your approach and the result. "Built an attendance system for my department using Flask and PostgreSQL; used by six faculty members to track 240 students."
Leave out
- Hobbies that do not add signal
- Primary school details
- References available on request as a whole section
- A photo unless your market expects one
