How to list projects on a resume

Projects as evidence: name, problem, your contribution, outcome and a link — arranged so they scan in seconds.

Projects are the most underused section on a resume. Done well, they replace experience you do not have yet.

The four facts

  1. Name and one-line description — what it is, not a slogan
  2. Your role — solo, team, maintainer, contributor
  3. What you built — the specific part you own
  4. Outcome — users, results, what it enabled, with a link if it exists

Example

"Open Transit Map — Community accessibility map for public transport stops. Maintainer. Designed the data model and MapLibre rendering layer; used by three local advocacy groups to file accessibility reports."

Order

Most relevant to the role first, not most recent. A project that matches the posting should sit at the top of its section.
